Tour Plan

Day 1: Gorilla Trekking

The first day of the Rwanda 4-Day Safari Tour itinerary involves an exciting and unforgettable experience of gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park which is located in the northwestern part of the country. Gorilla trekking in Rwanda is a unique and unforgettable experience. Rwanda is home to almost a half of the world's remaining mountain gorillas, and visitors have the opportunity to see these magnificent animals up close in their natural habitat. Visitors to Volcanoes National Park must obtain a gorilla trekking permit in advance. The permits cost $1,500 per person and allow visitors to spend one hour with a gorilla family.

Early in the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel in Kigali and driven to the park, which is located approximately 2-3 hours away. During this journey, you will be able to enjoy the beautiful Rwandan countryside and get a glimpse of the local culture.

Upon arrival at the park headquarters, you will be given a briefing about the gorilla trekking rules and safety precautions. It is important to follow these rules to ensure the safety of both the gorillas and the visitors. Rwanda has a strict policy of limiting the number of visitors to the gorillas to protect their habitat and minimize their exposure to human-borne diseases. You will also be assigned a gorilla family to trek, and a park ranger will guide you through the trek. Visitors to Volcanoes National Park must be accompanied by a guide at all times. The guides are knowledgeable about the gorillas and their habitat and can provide valuable insights during the trek.

The trek itself is an adventure that takes you through the forest to find a family of mountain gorillas. This can take anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours depending on the location of the gorillas. It is important to note that the trek can be physically demanding, and visitors are advised to be in good physical shape to participate.

Once you find the gorillas, you will spend an hour with them, observing their behavior and taking photos. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get up close and personal with these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. It is important to remain calm and quiet during the encounter, as the gorillas are wild animals and can be easily disturbed.

The best time to go gorilla trekking in Rwanda is during the dry season, which runs from June to September and December to February. During this time, the gorillas tend to stay in lower altitudes, making them easier to access.

After the trek, you will be driven back to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay. This will give you time to reflect on the amazing experience you just had and to rest before the next day's activities. Overall, Day 1 of the Rwanda 4-Day Safari Tour is a truly unforgettable experience that combines adventure, nature, and wildlife in the beautiful country of Rwanda.

Day 2: Golden Monkey Trekking

On Day 2 of the Rwanda 4-Day Safari Tour, you will have the opportunity to go Golden Monkey Trekking. Golden monkeys are endangered primates that are native to the Virunga Mountains in Central Africa, which straddle the borders of Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The golden monkeys have a distinctive golden-orange fur coat that shimmers in the sunlight, making them a beautiful sight to behold. Visitors are required to obtain a permit from the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) to go golden monkey trekking. The permit costs $100 and allows visitors to spend up to one hour with the golden monkeys.

The day will begin with a tasty breakfast before driving to the park headquarters for a briefing on the rules and safety precautions that need to be followed while trekking in the forest. The briefing will provide important information about the behavior of golden monkeys and how to interact with them safely. The golden monkey trekking experience in Rwanda is led by experienced guides who take visitors on a trek through the dense forests of the Volcanoes National Park.

Once you're equipped with all the necessary knowledge, you will set off on your trek to find a troop of golden monkeys. The trek can be challenging, but it is worth it when you finally come across a troop of golden monkeys playing and jumping around in the trees. You will be guided by experienced trackers who know the forest well and can help you spot these elusive primates. You will get to see the monkeys up close and observe their behavior for an hour. This is a unique opportunity to witness the golden monkeys in their natural habitat, taking photos and creating unforgettable memories.

Golden monkey trekking is a great way to learn about the conservation efforts being made to protect these primates and their habitat. The best time to go golden monkey trekking in Rwanda is during the dry season, which runs from June to September and December to February.

After the trek, you will return to your hotel for lunch and some relaxation time. In the afternoon, you can choose to either explore the nearby villages or visit the Iby'iwacu Cultural Village to learn more about Rwandan culture and traditions. The village offers visitors a chance to experience Rwandan culture firsthand, with guided tours that include a visit to a traditional healer, a visit to a local school, and a chance to participate in cultural activities such as cooking, dancing, and drumming. The village is a community-based tourism initiative, which means that the profits generated from tourism activities are shared among the villagers. The village is also involved in conservation efforts, with a focus on protecting the endangered mountain gorillas that live in the nearby Volcanoes National Park. The village has established a buffer zone around the park to reduce human-wildlife conflict and promote sustainable tourism practices.

As the day draws to a close, you will return to your hotel for dinner and overnight. This will be a well-deserved rest after an exciting day spent in the wilds of Rwanda, with unforgettable memories and experiences that will stay with you for a lifetime.

Once you find them, you'll spend an hour observing their behavior and taking photos, while learning about their habits and lifestyle. Chimpanzees are social animals that live in large communities, led by an alpha male. They are known for their intelligence and ability to use tools, such as sticks and rocks, to help them gather food. It's a truly unforgettable experience that provides a unique insight into the world of these intelligent and fascinating animals.

After the trek, you'll return to your hotel, where you can relax and unwind after a long day of adventure.
