Tour Plan

Day 1: Arrival in Dar es Salaam

Upon arrival at the airport, you'll be warmly welcomed by a Sunday Safaris representative. Transfer to Hotel for relaxation and tour briefing, with optional pre-tour accommodations available at an extra cost.

Day 2: Mikumi National Park

After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Mikumi National Park, carrying packed lunches for a thrilling game drive upon arrival. Encounter a rich diversity of wildlife, including elephants, lions, zebras, and hippos, amidst the park's picturesque landscape. Retire to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Explore Mikumi

Enjoy a full-day game drive in Mikumi National Park, marveling at over 400 bird species and iconic African mammals in their natural habitat. Return to the lodge for dinner and relaxation.

Day 4: Journey to Ruaha National Park

Depart for Ruaha National Park after breakfast, stopping in Iringa town for lunch en route. Discover the remote beauty of Ruaha, renowned for its unique wildlife and pristine landscapes. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 5: Safari Adventures in Ruaha

Begin your day with a game drive along the Great Ruaha River, spotting rare animals like kudu and enjoying packed lunches amidst nature's tranquility. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Walking Safari and Game Drive

Embark on a walking safari along the Great Ruaha River, accompanied by an armed ranger for safety. After lunch at the lodge, continue exploring Ruaha with an exhilarating game drive. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 7: Full-day Safari in Ruaha

Experience the wonders of Ruaha National Park on a full-day game drive, encountering a plethora of wildlife and diverse bird species. Return to the lodge for dinner and relaxation.

Day 8: Transfer to Mbeya Town

After breakfast, journey to Mbeya town, where you'll spend the night at the tranquil Utengule Coffee Lodge amidst a coffee plantation. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 9: Discover Katavi National Park

Drive to Katavi National Park, a remote wilderness teeming with buffalo herds, elephants, and hippos. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 10: Safari Excursion in Katavi

Embark on a full-day game drive to Katuma River, observing thousands of hippos and diverse wildlife species. Return to the lodge for dinner and relaxation.

Day 11: Explore Katavi National Park

Enjoy another full-day game drive, soaking in the untouched beauty and abundant wildlife of Katavi National Park. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 12: Return to Mbeya

Drive back to Utengule Coffee Lodge in Mbeya for relaxation amidst the tranquil surroundings. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Day 13: Return to Mikumi

Journey to Mikumi town, stopping in Iringa town for lunch and rest before checking in at the lodge. Enjoy dinner and overnight stay in preparation for the journey to Dar es Salaam.

Day 14: Departure from Dar es Salaam

After breakfast, drive to Dar es Salaam and transfer to the airport for your departure flight, concluding your unforgettable Southern Tanzania safari adventure.

We just returned from a awesome self-drive trip in Kenya. We rented a 4x4 vehicle with camping equipment from Kofi Travel. The vehicle was in good condition and the camping gear was sufficient. We have been planning our dream trip to Africa for years now (in September 2025) and contacted quite a few guide companies to get itineraries and costs. We went on a 2-week safari in western Uganda (Lake Bunyoni, gorilla trekking, rafting, Victoria NP, chimp trekking and 8-day hike in the Rwenzori Mountains). It was an extremely varied and wonderful trip. The planning and organization by KTS was great, the team made a lot of effort and responded to all of our requests. The support was excellent.
